This method is used to determine the peel strength of adhesives using a T-shaped bonded assembly of two flexible adherends bonded together. This allows the user to understand the stength of the adhesive and to determine results, such as average peel force, and maximum and minimum peeling forces.
The ISO 11339 test method is suitable for self-adhesive tapes that are prepared under the relevant guidelines within this test standard.
We recommend using tensile testing machines, usually of single column or dual column table top design. When testing adhesives it is important to consider data acquisition. To ensure that the test peaks and troughs are captured, a uniform high-data sampling rate is required. This test procedure can be easily achieved with either screw action grips or pneumatic grips, which accommodates a range of test samples without the need for specialized loading methods. Bluehill® 2 materials testing software is used to: input specimen details; set the desired test control; automatically calculate the desired results and statistics; and produce a test report all in accordance with the standard.
We suggest reviewing ISO 11339 to fully understand the test fixture and results requirements, as certain aspects of the testing standard may apply when testing with certain tests samples and materials.
